Hi all, I boarded a train yesterday at White City but stopped in the tunnel on the way to S Bush due to a person being taken ill at the station. Anyway the train sat for about 15 mins before the driver announced he would be walking trough the train to take the train back to White City. I didn’t realise trains could run down the tracks the wrong way with passengers onboard. After crawling along for 5 mins he then announced in face we would now be going the correct way as the line was clear now. Was interesting

Was interesting Trains can run "wrong way" with passengers with the authorisation of the line controller. It may requite points to be secured. It's not as uncommon as you may think.

Well the Service Manager (to the service controller) and then as you say.

Only once asked to do a “wrong direction move”, that was on a Friday evening when there was report of a bloke with a knife on a train at Bank EB, I was stuck in the pipe behind it and Wood Lane control asked me to go back to St.Pauls.
I did a PA to let the passengers know what was occurring, walked through to the back cab but by the time I’d got there it had all been sorted and I had to walk all the way back again, much to the passengers’ amusement.
When we do go the wrong way the fastest we can go is 15kph, not something you want to do Mile End to Stratford........
