Work at the station has recently uncovered these amazing advertising posters in non-public areas and that date from c1956 - 1959 when the station's lifts were removed and replaced by escalators. These are in an old lift passageway and will be safe. TfL will be leaving these intact - and please do not pester the station staff as the posters are wholly inaccessible - which is why they've probably survived 50 odd years! www.flickr.com/photos/36844288@N00/sets/72157624079183751/detail/

Thanks for the photo link, Ian. Really nice. I was partial to the Royal Blue Coach advert. Were they taken by Mikey Ashworth or someone else?
I just hope they don't show up on YouTube being claimed by MultiCartoon. (see other posts).

I think these were taken by Mr Ashworth. I hope they find a way of preserving them. I remember many of them. I travelled on Royal Blue coaches to Bournemouth. I remember they were painted blue and cream. On one trip the driver got stopped for speeding in the New Forest.
