Anybody know what was going on yesterday around 14.45 on the southbound Met? Another journey to footie at The Emirates nearly scuppered..Plan to pick up aged former neighbour in Wembley to get to Gillespie Road. Now knowing that there is no Met/H&C/Circle between Baker St and Aldgate I re-plan Preston Road to BS.Bakerloo to Piccadilly then Picc to Arsenal.43-45 mins. Get to Preston Rd to be told that there are no trains on P2 and we will have to go backwards to HOH and get a fast BS.Usual muffled announcements about ''signal failure somewhere crackle crackle.'' At HOH drag the old boy up and down the stairs, just about make the BS train. No obvious staff or announcements at HOH. Eventually arrive at destination to make kickoff with minutes to spare. By the way when we got to BS ,it appeared trains were running northbound to all destinations so what happened please.? While on the Met line train I phoned LUL customer service who had no info at all about this incident !!! All answers of great interest.

He he!! I was a good game for sure.
There were problems today too!
Although, I was quite lucky, had to go to town and got a starter from Northwood, that ran semifast to Baker Street!
A number of trains were starting from the depot and there was a large queue for the underpass!

I do believe MetControl was the Controller on duty at the time ;D ;D Indeed I was. Failure of the points south of Wembley Park which handle converging moves from the southbound local and fast lines. The route from the fast towards Neasden was fine (and thus the majority of trains were able to be diverted via the fast from Harrow). The route from the local line was failing, and 2 trains were delayed - one in the platform at Wembley, and one just outside. The train in the platform was quickly detrained, with the train outside brought forward and also detrained. The speed in which the southbound trains were dealt with and the frequency of the northbound service meant nobody should have been inconvenienced for more than around 10 minutes. A few connections between northbound and southbound services at Harrow were laid on - so landau1945, you made the Baker Street train not by luck, but because we waited for you Plenty of information left our office for the outside world (i.e. stations, trains etc.) The northbound service was unaffected by the failure, which lasted just 20 or so minutes. Just goes to show how different people are affected in different ways. Metman's "lucky" semi-fast service was only as a result of the failure. The only trains ex-depot were the 2 delayed trains after the failure coming out to pick-up their northbound workings, and 2 football spare trains.

Thanks folks for all the replies. Always good to get the inside story. It seems as if things were resolved quickly but at the time my first thoughts were ,that I'd already made the plans to get around the BS/Kings Cross situation only to be thwarted by yet another signal failure.

No problem, always glad to fill in the gaps. It's always the way with such things. You have a peaceful day, right up until thousands of people are trying to get to a football match or into the city, then...
