Hi there. Sorry to start a new thread on this subject but I tried to reply on the old Farringdon sdngs thread and I cant seem to post on it plus there is a lock on the left of the thread (why is this?).
Right my question. I noticed a few months back 3 trains stabled at Farringdon sidings. Was this not a breach of safety due to known circumstances? And also there are blinkers at the fronts of the sidings. Has the sidings been de-commisioned? And if so isthis for cross rail work?
Thank you.

The sidings are a building site now and the old fitters' hut has been demolished.

So I take it they are fully de-commisioned then? Weird as the signals are still there.

I noticed a few months back 3 trains stabled at Farringdon sidings. Was this not a breach of safety due to known circumstances? No. There is nothing whatsoever unsafe about stabling 3 trains in the sidings. I think what you may have got wind of is that there are certain restrictions covering the access by staff to and from the sidings. And also there are blinkers at the fronts of the sidings. Has the sidings been de-commisioned? And if so isthis for cross rail work? The sidings (for a long time just 1 of them, but now all 3) are under a long-term engineering possession, partly being used as storage for equipment and partly owing to the very nearby cross-rail works. Any train stabled on the sidings would be too close to the ongoing works. So I take it they are fully de-commisioned then? Weird as the signals are still there. See above, plus the signals are being retained as the sidings are not de-commissioned and will be brought back into use before their eventual closure / alteration as part of the S-stock project.

Hi there. Sorry to start a new thread on this subject but I tried to reply on the old Farringdon sdngs thread and I cant seem to post on it plus there is a lock on the left of the thread (why is this?). You'll find the timings here in the Forum Rules, in particular Rule 12m: (12m) Moderators will also lock threads some time after they reach six months without any new posts. If a member wishes to add something of value to a locked thread, they may request that a Moderator or Administrator unlocks the thread for them, otherwise a new thread should be started. Please ;D ;D read the Forum Rules - It makes life so much easier all round: this isn't a 'telling-off' it's one of those public service announcements! In the future, if you'd like to reopen a locked thread, please PM any of the Forum Staff that are online - this is why we put the clickable links at the top of the forum.
