Given that Sarah Siddons only runs over the Met, apart from running along the District to get to/from Upminster Depot last year, why is it felt necessary to do a "test run"? Surely, they already know that she is of the correct gauge?

Surely, they already know that she is of the correct gauge? The loading gauge is not the problem, it is more the fact hat the old girl only gets out and about occasionally these days. As such it is better to find any problems before the big day, you wouldn't want to be sitting down in the middle of the nowhere. That might give those who object to this sort of activity an idea to ban all heritage workings! Also a little bit of play never hurt anyone............... ;D
