Having built two of the excellent Radley Models Battery Locomotive kits (both as 1951 Pickering examples) I was wondering what the wheelbase of the motor bogies of the 1930s locomotives was. Having looked at L35 in Acton Works the bogies look to be of a shorter wheelbase than the later Locomotives. Did L35-L43 have the same bogies? I am planning to build a model of one of the non-metadyne examples. Thanks in advance.

Not all battery locos had the same bogies. I seem to recall some had single blocked and some had double blocked bogies. I think the single blocked ones were fitted with ex Met motor bogies. Some later ones had ex Standard Stock bogies. I'm guessing now. I can probably find out the definitive answer to this but I'm in Portugal at the moment so I'll try to remember when I get home on Monday.

Would these have been Saloon stock bogies (from the 1904-6 batch or from the later 1913-21 cars some of which had the old pre 1922 met loco bogies) or from old T stock motor cars?

From memory [beware fade possible] they were off the cars used for the experimental Metadyne train which was 1905 stock. They may have been confined to the three battery locos with Metadynes. I'll have to check all this when I get home Monday night.

OK, I've checked "workhorses" and the 1938 battery locos had ex-Met bogies, the 1949 ones had A2s ex scrap DR cars, the 1965 & 69 batches had Zs ex Standard Stock and the 1973 ones had Zs built new.
