well, not exactly Sleepy Hollow. But Rissne depot, located northwest of Stockholm and serving the Blue line. Inaugurated in 1975, it is both the smallest ( in terms of fleet allocation) and youngest of the depots in the Stockholm Metro. The construction is a bit unusual, with the workshops and administrative buildings on the surface, and the stabling tracks in huge rock caverns underneath. When Rissne was built, there were plans to extend the blue line for quite some distance, so Rissne was built to house a much larger fleet of trains than it actually does today. Some of the mountain passages have never been fitted with tracks, others are used to stable a sort of strategic reserve of C6 cars and engineer's equipment that is stored out of use. The train in the second picture is actually coming from the underground stabling area and is on it's way to the workshop buildings. Rissne is also an oddity in the Stockholm tube in that it actually has controlled signals in the depot area, and certain depot tracks are fully cab signalled and permit trains to travel at 80 km/h. An even more curious thing is that Rissne is the only depot in the Stockholm Metro that is fitted with a turntable. Bizarrely enough, the turntable is only long enough to fit a single car of old stock, but the blue line has almost exclusively been served by cars running as married pairs! The turntable has, however, not been used for much of anything for quite some years now. If there is any itnerest, I might scan a few pictures from the underground stabling areas, too.

So that's what you were up when you woke me up! It is nice to see what Rissne looks like, it isn't often I get to see pics from there.
(Note to self: turn phone off during the day when on nights).
