Yet another completely useless roundel replacement has occured. Sorry if this is old news! Haven't been through there in a while, but this morning I did. The large and perfectly adequate roundel on the totem has been replaced with one of the hollow ones. This is a backwards step, as because of the folliage and skyline in the area, having a white background increased legibility (and for the location even noteability). However all this is moot, as the replacement is at 90 degrees to the former, meaning its only visible from the hypothetical viewpoint of someone on the track 8 metres in the air. [rant] I mean what kind of futile idiocy is this?? Why should people have to pay ever increasing fares for what seems like ever decreasingly justifiable expenditure and levels of quality? TfL is lucky that there is no practical alternative to the tube; they have a captive market. [/rant] Anyone who knows the area knows that Ickenham station is on a side road some distance from the main street, and rail replacement buses stop there instead. In short its not even visible from such a distance and not obvious its a station from half way there. The previous panel roundel was clear, looked in perfectly good condition, and did a better job than the hollow roundel would do if it faced the right way. Why was it replaced?

One presumes as a direct result of a clause within the PPP that requires the signage to be replaced?
Perhaps a question for the politicans of both major political parties why they've imposed privitisation (part or full) onto the transport system?

However all this is moot, as the replacement is at 90 degrees to the former, meaning its only visible from the hypothetical viewpoint of someone on the track 8 metres in the air. You'll be pleased to know that this roundel has now been turned through 90 degrees and is now aligned the same way as the sign it replaced. They even used a spirit level to make sure it was level. I know this because they left it behind sitting on the crossbar of the roundel.

Haha! Well that'll be a nice target for the delightful children at Douay to throw rocks at.
I sense a FOI request coming up to find out how much this all cost.
