I'll second that. And moving the forum from Bravenet to Proboards was a great idea (for me, the former one was always very slow and awkward to use ).

Thanks for the kind comments guys - I really appreciate it!
I agree that the move to Proboards has been a good move, but the old Bravenet one proved the value of the idea, so it served its purpose!
As long as I keep getting 'hits' on the site it'll continue to grow (I hope!). But if it wasn't for you guys, and I think quite a few others, there'd be no point in it all, so thanks to you too!

;D
You'd better stop all this praise, or I'll be getting big headed!
Thanks again though for the words - but if it wasn't for some of the others who contribute here too - Solidbond, Met Apprentice, Tom, Q8 and anyone else I've forgotten, it wouldn't look as good as it does!
I'll shut up now - this is starting to sound like an Oscar's acceptance speech................................

So this is where you're all hiding. My learned colleague directed me here. Thanks to him I'm now a member of yet another place to share our knowledge. Bit disturbed by the entire District Line section (those who know me know why) but I'm sure I'll get used to it, and it is the guv'nors home so... Seriously though, it appears to be a very good forum.

Why should you be disturbed by the District Line section, it's a chance to explain your strategies for holding up D78s at Aldgate East and Minories ;D ;D ;D ;D

They are secrets known only to the order of Baker Street. I couldn't possibly reveal those Greetings Citysig! Good to see you've found this little area, and I'm sorry if you're perturbed by the focus on the DR - but maybe it can act as a reminder of our existence from time to time! But - back to the general direction that this thread is taking......... A brief introduction to the 'concept' is probably appropriate though - there is a 'staff group' which floats about cyberspace which was started about two and a half years ago and of which a number of our contributors here are members and participants. The idea is that it's open to (in general) 'Operational Grades' only, and is quite often used to vent one's frustrations of the day to day workings of the railway and at those who often cause the problems. I think I'll leave it to youreselves to work out the minutiae further! But a 'social' aspect has developed out of this and quite a few of 'us' meet up from time to time for a 'convivial evening'. It was decided that there should be an award given to the person who made the greatest contribution to disrupting the railway and then took the inevitable ribbing from his or her peers in good part - I suspect you can see where this is going! Suffice it to say that I was runner up last year. The winner is also a member of this group, and I will leave it to him to reveal himself, should he feel so inclined. I received a certificate and - in the spirit of freedom of information - it can be viewed at photobucket.com/albums/v663/districtdave/Odds%20and%20Ends/?action=view¤t=Cert.jpgNo doubt I will hear further on this matter.........

Not renowned for being shy when it comes to making a fool of myself, I'm putting my hands up, I was the winner. I could not make the ceremony but eventually recieved my tankaed and certificate. I'm doing my best not to win this year though

Here in Stockholm, we have nothing so well-organised, but drivers who excel in one capacity or the other are certainly noticed from time to time.
For example, the driver who managed to derail just north of Alvik with the last car of his train and completely shutting down the line for about half a day, including the morning peak, got a nice little diploma and a letter of thanks for all the overtime he had so generously provided his colleagues with.
