Hi all.
I don't travel on the old part of the Jubilee much, but did today, and it reminded me that some of the section of the WB track between the above stations is extremely noisy and irritating.
Why is this? And why has it not been rectified despite the numerous closures between Green Park and Stratford? It must be a known issue?
Thanks, Uzair

Thanks, Uzair The section between Westminster and Green Park is not on the old section, it's acutally (in terms of service dates), the newest part of the line.

And therefore (at a guess) doesn't have a perceived need for lubricated flanges?

No, the noisy part is definitely after the junction and in the new tunnels.

No, the noisy part is definitely after the junction and in the new tunnels. Well the junction and turnouts are in the new tunnels, step plates would've been built to surround the existing original tunnel, but I take the point. I used to do the signal maintenance on the old Jubilee (part of Picc Line signal mtce!) so I covered Green park to Charing Cross but the turnouts were the responsibility of JLE (whose maintenance was done by Northern line signals!).

I think maybe it's on a gentle curve and is a fast section so there is more track corrugation?

Is'nt there a swing nose crossing in this area...i've heard a few stories about this Waterloo 4 points are swing nose, depending on where you read it, 4A and 4B, or 4A, 4AA, 4BA, 4B, the double letter suffixes being the swing noses. No comment on stories ;D -- Nick

thats correct there are the famouse wing nose points at waterloo and what a lovley set of points they are to. having worked at waterloo for 3 years and westminster stations the only thing i can think about the noise been is the steep curve from green park to westminster and it ias a fast curve so may just be wheel falnge that your hearing as the track is relativley new and smooth
