Oo. That'll make metman either very happy or quite frustrated!
Although inappropriate for LU modelling (unless wanting to model something like Bricklayers Arms 'box) the 'odeon' signalbox is rather nice. Shame North Kent East wasn't in that style.
EDIT: although it does have more than a passing similarity to New Cross Gate; which had seven signals on the ELL.

This could make my proposed station a darn sight easier to build. Shame it has a subway as my proposed station was to have a footbridge linking to a high-level BR station. Still, it's nice that something proprietry will look the part on an LT layout. All I need now is to start mine.....

You know I doubt that I'll ever run a model railway again (sold mine in 1982!) but being somewhat nostalgic about the years I spent at LT/LU I did invest in some EFE tube stock a few years ago and keep a four car unit on the mantelpiece with some OO scale LT vehicles. I am wondering what engineering stock those with layouts may have other than battery locos. The mention of Bachmann in this thread reminded me that the 00 scale tamper I also have on the mantelpiece is from that manufacturer, indeed it is the only one of my rail models that has a motor!

If you're at the Acton meet there'll probably be two of us with ex-MET 10 ton ballast wagons to show off...... For my own departmental stock I have two Battery locos, one (with more to follow) converted Heljan 'Dogfish' 20 ton ballast hopper (HW411 etc), three LT brake vans (all different), a growing collection of ex-MET 10 tonners and a three car Standard stock railgrinding train. I'm also working on the ex-MET 30 ton breakdown crane and attendant vehicles (I've done BD704 which, although small, is a start), the tube structure gauging car and I'm thinking about doing the 'Fluffer' train! I'm waiting for someone to do a kit of the bogie wagons that were used with Panniers on the Watford Tip workings in the sixties. Perchance to dream.....
Meanwhile, back at the thread... As for the Bachmann station, the main station building will be perfect for the BR high-level one I'm planning as it will be a southern region layout. All I need now is the £50 it'll cost! Also, Metman has posted pics of his Harrow-on-The-Hill buildings elsewhere. Maybe they're what inspired Bachmann? If only they would do RTR CO/CP stock.....

Peh! RTR F stock, boyo! (blue stripes for Watford, please) [1] [1] that might only mean something to forum members of a while back. EDIT: Where do you think the inspiration for the 'main' station building is: www.ehattons.com/StockDetail.aspx?SID=32793 [Intended to put this in last night]; it certainly shows some Holden elements. What does Tonbridge station look like up top? I've been through there umpteen times, but never got out and had a look.

Alas, living in Lincs I doubt I'll ever see London again. The train services from Lincoln are poor AIUI and I am in the sticks 10 miles away, in any case train fares are ridiculous. I used to drive back to London once every month or two but the cost of petrol has become prohibitive too so I limit my mileage to one 20 mile round trip a week to go shopping! By the 'fluffer' train I presume you are referring to the 5 car vacuum cleaner TCC set that I last saw in the sidings at Northfields when I was doing signal maintenance there back in 2004. Once upon a time I used to spend hours modifying plastic kits of various buildings and other models, I also used to build card kits, mostly to go with model buses. I do have a number of railway card kits including several types of signal box and station buildings that at some point I will turn into some static diorama or other. I've always wanted to build something like Arnos Grove or Acton Town or, with some imagination, a multilevel slice through Earls Court from the substation and offices down through the District platforms to the Picc tubes below but I have too many other hobbies on the go! Producing my own 00 scale building kits on the computer has long been a dream ever since seeing what has been done by others.

The 'Fluffer' train I meant was the one that involved workers standing on converted 10 ton MET Ballast wagons (TLC1/2) and wiping/brushing the bare wires by hand. It ws so bizarre that it just has to be modelled!
The station building has elements of a number of Southern stations and I don't think it is intended to be anywhere in particular. It has a Horsham look about it but the Southern built many stations of this style all over the network and of different sizes. Large examples still exist at Surbiton and Southampton Central. The truth is that it could be anywhere on the Southern and I think that is Bachmanns selling point. The platform buildings look pure MET unless anyone can tell me otherwise (He says, hoping that something similar exists somewhere on the District). Either way, they should find a home in my loft!

You aren't far away from me, I managed to get train tickets for £23 return for the Acton meet, it's not that much when booked in advance. If you fancy going to any of the meets, you can come down to my house, park for free (and securely, my gate is locked) and travel back into the City Centre on the bus for the train. I'm only in the Boultham area, so easily in reach. Meanwhile, back on topic.......
