Around about 2330 last night, there was an nnouncement on the West Ruislip bound central line train that I was on regarding a delay at Ruislip Gardens due to vandals on the tracks between there and West Ruislip.
We duly sat there for 45 minutes and , fair play to the driver, he shut the doors on the request of those of us cold on the train... However all through this lovely 45 minute delay... TFL thought there was. "Good Service" on the Central Line.
Surely that can't possibly be the case if there's 45 minutes worth of delays to the lead train as following trains will have even longer...

Well if the service can continue to run to Ruislip Gardens and reverse there or via the depot, every station bar West Ruislip could still be receiving an apparently normal service... (although it might mean some trains are out of place)

The service would, as a passenger, be Part Suspended South Ruislip - West Ruislip as we were at Ruislip Gardens station... So that's also not a good service.

Can I point out that the term 'graffiti artist' has no place when you are talking about people who are commiting criminal damage? They commit said criminal damage by permanently damaging the property on which they practice their 'art'. Rant over

Agreed, as does my housemate and travel companion on the night in question... but that's what the T/Op called them.

Having heard the story of the actual events from the driver reporting, the situation desendend into an episode of the Chuckle Brothers crossed with the Keystone Cops!
Driver reported 3 youths laying under a train, in the 4 foot on a depot road whilst stabling their train. Said train had been "smashed" by the group. Depot staff and security contacted BTP awaiting a 20 minute attendance. They went to stop the youth 2 climbed the bridge from the depot, jumping over the high fence onto the track to escape. The other one ran into the bushes by the shunters cabin, attempting to escape. Police dogs were used to flush him out, but he escaped also up the tracks to survive another day like his mates.

he escaped the BTP dog unit?
all the chap wanted to do was give the 17 year old units a lick of paint, something that they lack at the moment.

I can confirm wer1070's version of events . I was on duty that night. At Northolt I was told by Controller I would be held at Ruislip Gardens due to trespassers on the track. After a minute was given the all clear to West Ruislip. I was lucky. I was the last train to get there. That was 23.00. Was finally allowed to stable 00.30. Unbelievable.

Mind you, it would have been far worse for you if you'd been booked to take a train back to the other end of the line!
