One feature of the 3-car scheme I had not really taken in before is the new stopping positions, which take 2-car trains beyond the sensible stopping position in a platform.
For example, at Canning Town westbound the trains, still entirely 2-car here of course, now stop so far forward that the rear of the train is only level with the forward escalator down to the Jubilee, which thereby gets overcrowded, while the other escalator rumbles on empty, well to the rear of the train.
Meanwhile those passengers who have come up that escalator and then wait by it are now having to run forward, the train stopping far down the platform, which leads to delays at the last doors while everyone queues to get in.
Can the automatic control system not handle separate stopping positions for trains of different length?
