Since December, there has only been one ocassion my train* has never stopped at Praed St Junction and a couple of times its been diverted to Platform 2 *West Brompton-Edgware Road Note- i travel on that stretch everyday so I know what I'm about... This is more than likely as a result of the early-running being mentioned. You are basically awaiting the booked path of the train across the junction - as opposed to before December, when your train may have missed its path and was awaiting the next one. Yes, yes it's the same difference to a passenger, so no perceived improvement. The difference is, your train will more than likely terminating right time at Edgware Road, and thus departing on the return trip right time. Now we all know that the average customer couldn't care less about their fellow customers - especially those waiting for other trains except yours - but we are in the business of trying to cater for everyone. So you get a more reliable service (even if it still appears to get held up) and so does everyone else. Note-I see that big picture everyday, so I know what I'm about

All a bit sad, when the info to passengers is that for "step-fee interchange beyond Edgware Road," (i.e. cross-platform) "use Circle line.": tinyurl.com/yhpbu8xPermanent signage such as this was something I was always against before the timetable came in, and this indeed highlights one of the very large potential problems the working of the service could create. There are times where it is simple unavoidable to put trains off platform - especially during periods of disruption.

My experience on Monday - first two trains from Praed Street were "Districts" and the third was a "Circle", - of the three trains only the first used the correct platform at ERD, and the SECOND train (a District) was the only one to use the "Circle" platfom.

Hello, Question from a foreigner: what is the actual distance between pread Street junction and the western end of Edgware Road station ?
Second question : how about enlarging the tunnel and laying a third track ? (I think I know the answer: too expensive!)

Hello, Question from a foreigner: what is the actual distance between pread Street junction and the western end of Edgware Road station ? 246.9 metres (more or less) from the tip of the point blades of 27 points to the top of the platform ramp of Plats 1 & 2. Correct. But actually, not much use anyway because the additional pointwork needed at each end to retain the necessary flexibility would encroach into the existing berths and render the junction and track locked all the way through to the station most of the time.

don't know if it's been discussed here, but one idea that circulated for a while was this:
Make the two tracks between Praed St Junction and Edgware Road bi directional. Then......
Run trains to/from Hammersmith via the island platforms nearest the Marylebone Road and the trains that terminate in the platforms nearest Griffith House.
Points and crossings altered to suit.
Station altered to provide decent capacity lifts for the higher interchange traffic.
Lots of money, but also lots of flexibility.
