Two questions [1] A couple of months back, around about early November I think it was, that derelict part of the middle footbridge to the south side over the sidings and thence towards Griffths House was removed. I had assumed it was simply being demloished as part of the the sub-station upgrade works, the same works that have closed the sidings, but I now understand as part of the new train crew accomodation in Griffiths House a new direct staff access is to be provided off the station. Is this correct ? [2] A bit outside of Edgware Road, to the east, in the pavements around the Old Marylebone Road / Marylebone Road / Edgware Road junction there are what look like crudely sealed up subway entrances. Were these pededstrian subways that simply led under the road with nothing to do with the railway, or were they old Edgware Road station entrances, or something else e.g. even to the Bakerloo -- Nick

I recall being able to use it when visiting the former LT Poster Shop (remember that?). When trainstaff are relocated in this block I expect it will be reinstated. The staircases you mention were under the Marylebone Road and have been replaced by surface crossings. They were similar to those constructed as part of the Aldgate one way system and at other areas (e.g. Vauxhall Bridge Road north end) by the GLC in the late-60s/early-70s. Very much of their time, and part of an attempt to separate motor traffic and pedestrians - see also Ringway 1 and the London Motorway Box. There was also a peak hour exit from Edgware Road station onto the Marylebone Road, at the opposite end of the Griffith House bridge, though I'm not sure this is still used.

I think I remember seeing that peak-hour exit heading westbound onto the Westway. I recall it looking like a lift exit.

Apparently yes, the footbridge to Griffith House is being rebuilt for the new depot. May is the opening date we've been given (not sure of the year though!)

I understand the supporting beams for the new link twixt Edgware Road platforms and Griffiths House go up imminently - possibly this weekend - or possibly Monday and Tuesday evening judging by some info I have seen concerning those evenings. If its not those days well then theres some other associated work taking place - anyway the point is, the beams are imminent. -- Nick

I overlooked following this up and now I can't recall what happened on what date.
The outline metal cage structure - if thats how I can describe it - for the staff link bridge was erected around the dates I suggested. It connects to the exsting eastern public footbridge, but unlike the previous structure thats was at the same point it crosses the (currently out of use) sidings at an angle towards Griffiths House.
It is far from ready for use yet though, just in case anyone was thinking about it.
