Spotted this morning that my train on the Uxbridge branch, City Bound was (according to it's FRONT destination board) heading to Watford...
Now thankfully, I travel the underground enough to know that this was not the case, but other people may not have realised, as the only place an announcement about hte train destination was made was at Harrow on the Hill.
Would the driver have been told that his destination board was wrong?

I'm sure the error would have been pointed out at some point, but it just goes to show that even Metropolitan line drivers are quite human and do make the odd mistake like forgetting to change the destination blind when they change ends.

I'm guessing on most other lines (from experience) it's not as much of an issue, but with the Met line in general having little to no passenger announcements, it's (slightly) more of an issue to people not familiar with the service...

Most Met passengers north of Harrow know the line as well as and in some cases better than the staff, even down to the train numbers. When I was on the Met line I was asked several times if train 4xx was running, as it should have been in front of me. Passengers on the Met line are generally die hard regular commuters, there are very few tourists or occasional users which travel on most other lines.

Would the driver have been told that his destination board was wrong? Only if someone on the station notices it and tells him, or one of his colleagues notices and reports it to us and we can advise him via the train radio.

Would the sensible thing to do not be to have pointed at the blind and done the hand-wavey-thing to alert the driver to it being wrong?

I guess it's not as much of a problem as if it was heading towards Uxford and was displaying "City". Mind you, if the rear blind was

Jim is quite right, the regs on the Met know their stuff. In fact, I normally have a word with the driver if the destination is wrong. I didn't bother the other day and the Baker St train had Aldgate on the front. The driver made his apologies at Swiss Cottage!
I've had to tell new drivers where they're supposed to be going. Had one new guy the other year at Harrow, found him in charge of a [Harrow] train [416] on platform 4 gazing into the WTT with a green aspect on the starter. I had to explain to him that he was to reverse at Rayners Lane! He looked shocked!
