Bow Church is also, confusingly, dedicated to St Mary.
The "Bow" in both cases is an arch - in the Cheapside version it is the arched vault of the church itself. In the E8 version it is the arched bridge that replaced the ford that carried the Roman Road to Colchester across the River Lea (hence "Street Ford" (Stratford), on the other side of the river).
