I agree with this, and we can't be the only ones who like her because she is favoured by many rail companies including: Heathrow Connect, Southern/SouthEastern trains, MerseyRail, National Express East Anglia and First Capital connect.

Staying on topic, does anyone know why this new C Stock DVA has been introduced? As someone pointed out earlier, it seems a bit pointless considering there aren't any corrections to the script whatsoever.
If it is just a question of choosing a new voice, I think the C Stock actually had one of the clearest DVAs. They should have replaced the robotic sounding recordings on the Central line if they were going to choose one.

There have been changes to the script, as i posted in the 'new Circle' thread- at Edgware Road the H&C now says "change here for Circle and District lines towards High Street Kensington".

In other words it runs like "This is Euston. Change here for the Northern Line and London Overground and National Rail services" as opposed to "This is Euston. Change...here...for...the northern line....and.....london overground.....and national rail services" The worst for this is iBus 20..........to..............Walthamstow Central

There are some annoucements which pause much longer, especially for buses terminating at Stratford. Sorry for going off-route BTW.

There have been changes to the script, as i posted in the 'new Circle' thread- at Edgware Road the H&C now says "change here for Circle and District lines towards High Street Kensington". Therefore, quite literally it was all done for the sake of the word "towards" not having been previously recorded by Emma Clarke. The other parts to the phrase were. Same with termini....if the Circle line is to read as "This is a Circle Line train to Hammersmith," they can easily edit the current announcements to suit this.

I am told with the new uploads the District main has been removed, so you can no longer set up Wimbledon - Mansion House (for example). (With a suggestion that new blinds have removed all places C stock get diverted to on the District.) We shall see, haven't seen a new blind or heard a new DVA yet ... but if true, demonstrates an appalling lack of thought and foresight !! Just had a C Stock with a new DVA, as aspect says the District main destinations have been removed. The set-up menus now gives: "Hammersmith & City" "Circle Line (inner)" "Circle Line (outer)" "Dist: Edgw-Wimb" "Circle Line (Ext I)" "Circle Line (Ext O)" So not even Olympia cattered for! The most noticable sound difference is the removal of the word "here" when announcing interchange information- i.e: "change for Central line", as apposed to "change here for . . . ". (post about blinds in H&C thread)

What about manual announcements? What is ExtI/O? Presumably Extended Circle Inner/Outer Thanks happybunny: They do not listen to the automatic either. They should make a manual announcement like "Turn up in the ticket window at the next station to get a free chokolate bar", and maybe an automatic a week later, just to see how many people actually listen

Having just spent 4 hours on a C stock this evening, I made an interesting discovery, they have got announcements in the wrong order on the approach to Wimbledon! On the way in to Wimbledon it announces "This is Wimbledon.." etc and then when you open the doors in the platform it cheerfully pipes up "The next station is Wimbledon..." Just perfect!

Extended I/O covers stations to / from Hammersmith - Plays out this is a circle line train to rather than via, not sure from what point it changes though!
Have they fixed the station closed problem yet ;D
For those who are unaware, it was apparently playing "This train terminates here" rather than station closed.
Oh for a proof tester!!! ;D

I travelled on a C stock train today which had the new announcements installed and I've identified the voice-over! It is the same one as used on the 2009 stock. She doesn't sound as annoying as when she is on the 2009 stock, but I do feel Emma Clarke did a better job.
I also went on the D stock to listen out for the Blackfriars announcement (which I have a recording of if anyone is interested); although the announcement doesn't blend in very well in terms of volume, it definately sounds like Emma Clarke.
However tfl did inform me that the voice-over announcer they chose to replace Emma needed to blend into existing tones so I'm guessing if it is the new voice-over, she has done a pretty good job!

To answer one point from Alight: The D78 stock 'Blackfriars' messages are all with the new artiste (Sarah ??). I tried mixing phrases from her with phrases from the Emma Clarke sound files but although their voices are superficially fairly similar, it sounds awful if you mix them in the same sentence. So we do have two versions of some phrases now. Next change due is much simpler, just adding in London Overground interchange at Whitechapel when the East London line is due to re-open in 2010. No new recordings needed.

Just to inform members of my findings today. Contrary to popular belief that these new recordings didn't add anything extra, merely mimicking the old ones word for word, there are 3 notable additions these recordings bring:
1) Mentioning of London Overground as well as National Rail services at Euston Square 2) "Please mind the gap between the train and platform" is played as soon as the doors open, followed by "This is..." (just as the Piccadilly and District lines do) 3) Two stage terminus message; firstly it says "The next station is Hammersmith, where this train terminates. Change for the District and Piccadilly lines" and then as the trains nears towards the platform it states "All change please" and reminders to take personal belongings with you. The latter proved to be most effective as pretty much every passenger stood up on hearing it!
I think the entire system has been replaced as well - I could have sworn I saw a new control panel on the right handside of the T/op as opposed to the left?

It's been a long while since I touched a C stock, but I suspect the 'control panel' you observed to the right of the train operator is in fact the Connect Radio unit.
IIRC, the control panel for the DVA is to the left of the train operator, above their heads.

Ah it could well be the radio system - it was to the right of the driver and looked rather hi-tech. Indeed the control panel for the DVA is on the left, above their heads; it still remained there, I just wasn't sure whether they'd added a new one as I hadn't seen the one on the right before. But it is most unlikely that they have as it would be very costly.

To be absolutely accurate on this, the DVA did indeed used to be on the right of the desk - where the Connect radio head is now located - as can be seen in the photo at www.trainweb.org/districtdave/html/c69_77_stock_7.html - it is visible to the extreme top right of the photo. Closer detail can be seen at www.trainweb.org/districtdave/html/c69_77_stock_9.html and this is the unit that has been relocated.

Cheers Dave. The control panel I saw today must have therefore been the radio.
