I have just recieved a resin body for a MET Electric loco (ebay!). However I am puzzled as to its origins. It is clearly not derived from the Harrow/Radley kit as there are fundamental differences. The kit is a one piece resin casting of the body, roof and solebar. The solebar has a brass frame moulded inside it to keep the rest of the casting from warping.
What I would like to know is who made it? Did LBC produce a MET electric at some time or is it Q kits. I have to doubt the latter as I have seen a couple of Q kits and this body, frankly, looks too good! This theory also rules out MTK.
It is actually a good moulding. It probably rates on a par with the Harrow kit as there are visual differences from the prototype in each. The cab windows and roof domes on the resin one look better proportioned but the detail is not as well defined and the solebar lacks any pipework. If anything it shows what a good kit the Harrow one was considering how long ago it was produced.
If anyone has any idea who originally produced this kit I would be interested to know.

I'm sure I saw some parts from Non Nonsense kits, so it could be an old MTK?

I don't think MTK ever did resin. The Bogie sidframes (the only other parts I got) are definately Harrow/Radley. The quality of the body is too good for MTK anyway, With all due respect to the late Colin Massingham who produced the kits. He was well aware of thier shortcomings and released his O gauge range under the name 'EL Crappo'! In the 70s and 80s he was about the only manufacturer who provided any kits of modern trains and, with bucketloads of work admittedly, some of the kits actually turn into good models. Towards the end of MTK he had begun to use etched brass for bodyshells instead of pressed alluminium and these later kits are very good. After his death the range was acquired by others and some are now available under the banner of 'Genesis kits' or No Nonsense Kits. Regretably, it appears that none of the range of MTK LT models are being produced any more. I know he did C stock if nothing else.

I saw there was D stock but did not know about C stock. Thankfully, I did drawings for a D stock model a while ago...
