I am not at work today but just heard on Magic and checked on website:
Severe delays are occurring between Plaistow and Upminster due to non-availability of staff.
That is strange for the District isn't it ?? What is going on exactly ?

E/B H&C train was delayed entering Barking, due to a W/B H&C being delayed in bay road. Barking sidings are under posession, so a District T/op took out the incoming H&C, as the incoming driver had finished their shift. The C stock was driven to Gloucester Road.

Interesting, unless a west end T/Op was finishing meal relief at Barking at the time and they reformed his 2nd train to the C Stock(not that likely) , or there just happened to be a spare Barking IO or pool driver in the house I can't see where they got a qualified C Stock driver from.

Are only District Earls Court and Acton crews trained on C stock?

Are only District Earls Court and Acton crews trained on C stock? Barking and Upminster pool drivers and Instructor Operators are also trained on them.

Funilly enough, it seems the EXACT same thing happened this afternoon. C Stock in bay, driver finished & gone home, H&C c-stock train waiting for bay & possession in sidings. No H&C spares / IO's / pool drivers available at BKG.. Luckilly some hero District west-end line driver who had got off and FINISHED, saved the day by taking the train in the bay road west. ;D ;D And they want to reduce spares

That chap or chapess deserves a medal! May I ask where they would have taken the train to? Would they get o/t?

I understand the 'hero' involved, (who is a very shy and modest person!), is our very own happybunny!
I would think a piece of paper changed hands, yes.

That chap or chapess deserves a medal! Couldn't agree more ;D ;D .. May I ask where they would have taken the train to? Would they get o/t? It was taken to Whitechapel in service , from there a spare driver ex-Edgware Rd arrived and took over (all District ops are not qualified to go via Liverpool St where the train went on to)

Dear HappyB - kudos to you from "over the pond". Despite your modesty, your efforts are now world-wide news! [on this board, anyway!]

Do west end drivers often finish at the east end of the line? I thought that they usually finished at their home depot, or at least at that end of the line.

West end drivers are booked to finish at either, Acton Town, Earl's Court or Ealing Common Depot. Although some duties may actually finish the driving work at another location, Barking, Triangle sidings etc. time allowance will be made back to one of those above.

Missed this thread earlier - a Barking spare was used to relieve a WB train with an Earls Court Driver on it (who was therefore C stock trained), this driver then took the train from the bay road to Gloucester Road then a spare driver who had been dispatched from Edgware Road took them off. The Earls Court driver concerned had a relief at Earls Court west so there was no issue with the onward working of their train.
