I'm sure this'll start a bit of controversy!
I'm going to nail my colours to the mast. When you all see the S stock cab "in the flesh", you'll all appreciate the effort that all the engineers and operators (prjb etc) have put into it. Whilst the controller is on the left, I think you'll all agree that the position it's in is the only logical position whilst we employ a driving position on the left.
I may be biased but the right hand controller on the older stocks either ended up too far away from the seat ('73, D) or just got in the way or had a horrible feel ('92, '95. '96).
After all in UK all of us who are left handed have to manilulate gear sticks on our cars on the left!
For me, the S stock is the nicest train I've ever driven, but then I don't drive trains all the time.
