Following on from another thread, I really have to ask just why LO have reduced the WLL service to 1 per hour on Sundays? Why does the truncation of the service at Shephard's Bush necessitate this, do we know?
Even with the additional Southern services on that route, it still gets really crowded at times on Sundays.

Do the Southern services on a Sunday also use platform 2 at Clapham?

Probably because the reversing of two LO trains per hour at Shepherd's Bush might get in the way of running the Southern service. It is impossible to run the LO trains in their normal times and not disrupt the Southern service (the LO train would have 28mins to reverse at Shepherd's Bush), so instead, the southbound LO train leaves at 15 mins past the hour (instead of at 28 and 58 past) and runs half an hour after the Southern service. It is a shame that the northbound gap between LO and Southern can't be closed up a bit (it is 17 mins and 43 mins) though.

Do the Southern services on a Sunday also use platform 2 at Clapham? Only when platform 17 is closed due to engineering works.

If they double ended the train, they could have one train shuttling between Shepherd's Bush and Willesden, and still provide a 30 min service with quick turnarounds at both ends.

The service is Shepherd's Bush - Clapham (not Willesden) and only 2-3 mins turnaround at each end seems a bit tight; there would be no recovery at all in case of problems. I'm also not certain how quickly you can turn a 378 around, modern units seem to take a couple of minutes to set up before they can go anywhere!!

Do the Southern services on a Sunday also use platform 2 at Clapham? Not normally. They usually come and go from platform 16/17.

Just a small correction, the Southern services, on a Sunday, don't use platform 16 at Clapham Junction, as there is no access from the Up West London line (the southbound track) to this platform. Reversal from the north is only possible in platform 17. Platform 16 is used, during the rest of the week, by all the services coming from south of Clapham Junction, but not by those starting there. Also, the Southern services are due to use platform 2 this coming Sunday, 4th October.

Today there were two LO services (as well as the Southern service) running between Clapham Junction adn Shepherd's Bush - instead of the single LO shuttle plus Southern service we usually get on Sundays. So, two cheers to LO. I say only two cheers because they ought to have done this on Sundays in the first place.
