There are new high level cable runs being fitted between Stepney and Bow Road, anyone have any idea what they are for?

ha! spotted that one on the way to work yesterday.
just a wild guess but perhaps they are too close to the track for either track replacement or the new trains or possibly life expired.
They run further past Bow Road to Bromley-By-Bow as well.

SSL signalling immunisation programme. These is part of the onging programme to convert the frequency to 125Hz to allow the running of the S Stock up to Upminster. Of course they will have to sort out Whitechapel first

How much of the SSL is currently in a supportive state of the S stocks requirements for signalling?

How much of the SSL is currently in a supportive state of the S stocks requirements for signalling? From a pure immunisation perspective, from Neasden to Watford, that is not to say that DC power upgrade, delta circuit replacement, platform extensions or comms/cctv in these are complete.

Between Mile End and Bow Road some are actually mounted on the sides of the arched roof part of the tunnel brickwork !! So it just looks bad, rather than infringing on the swept envelope of the trains??

So it just looks bad, rather than infringing on the swept envelope of the trains?? It's all in gauge. The bit in the open section from Bromley-By-Bow to Bow Road looks bad, but only from an aesthetic view point. The bit from Bow Road to Mile End you wouldn't notice except when the tunnel lights are on, as the brackets seem to be immediately above the lamps they do reduce the effectiveness of the lamps. I would guess that any cable coming adrift from a bracket on the tunnel roof structure would foul a train however! The cables do come adrift from time to time from the present runs. Not sure why such large brackets are needed, new brackets were supplemented not so long ago and these only have a few cables/pipes on them. In fact i wonder if all these cables actually do something there are already huge numbers of them ... perhaps they are breeding !!
