I have been sent some photos of the 11th May 1961 exhibition by the Institution of Loco Engineers at Marylebone. There appears to be a 1959 Stock car on display and I wondered if anyone had any details please? How did it get there?

It was 1959 Stock DM 1098. There was also an A60 DM there (5004?) too. I am not sure how they got there but would safely assume by rail, between match wagons.
Stuff moving by road on the Underground in those days was almost unheard of. Any individual cars being scrapped and not fit for rail and were normally cut up on site and taken out in bits in a skip. However, I will say, before I am reminded of it (!) that much Underground stock was moved by road in the early years of the 20th century!

I'm fairly sure it was 5004 too - I can remember reading something in either 'Pertinent Paragraphs' or whatever the Railway Mag. of the time called their "snippets" section.
