Do any celebrities ever use the tube? I don't give a toss about their lives but do they find travelling on the tube more convinient than crawling round London in a car?

I once had John Kettely the weatherman on my train when I was on the Central Line, I don't know where he got on but he got off at White City, I only realised who he was when another driver told me.

Seen more celebrities than I can remember since working on LU. One memorable one was when I had not long been on the job. I was doing some platform work at Edgware Road when Wendy James (who was lead singer in Transvision Vamp) approached me. She asked when and where the next train to Ladbroke Grove was. Would have given her some more information such as my telephone number, but I thought it unprofessional as I was in uniform, and besides I had other customers to deal with ;D
As for John Kettley, he used to live within spitting distance of me for a while. Quite often used to say hello, but strangely I cannot recall ever commenting on the weather to him. He was probably glad about that, and also glad few people broke into song in front of him. It was around the time that song was out "John Kettley is a weatherman and so is Micheal Fish!"

A colleague of mine is still somewhat famous for managing to give the then chairman of the conservative party, later prime minister, a very solid belt with the doors of his train. Personally, I have only managed to catch an extremely obnoxious TV celeb in the doors. But I am waiting for my opportunity to even the score...

Some VERY famous people have been seen in tube trains. The late Jo Grimond (superb gentleman) used to live at Chiswick Park (or at least regularly boarded and alighted there) That lovely lady Patricia Hayes used to go down the Wimbo road regular and chatted to us guards like we were old friends. Wonderful woman!! There used be some famous faces at Moor Park too. Jimmy Tarbuck being one I remember, always told you a joke that was bluer than the sky. Two well known male singers of the seventies/eighties (both of whom were married with kids) were often seen trolling around with pretty young MEN on their arms. In fact one once gave me 25 notes for the use of a spare room on the station for half an hour. Oh yes the tube has hosted most of them in it's time.

Michael Portillo (politician) used to be a regular at Earls Court. Michael buerk (tv newsreader) has appeared at Fulham Broadway quite a bit lately. Finally, Neil Kinnock (another politician) got on my train the other week. He rode from Earls Court to Hammersmith.

Had a few in my time at Thames travelling in from the leafy suburbs of Berkshire in to Paddington, but can't remember any specifically!
I had Peter Snow (or is it Jon Snow? - The guy who has his 'swingometers' on the BBC during the elections) on my District train the other day. Boarded at Sloane Square, but never noticed where he got off.
Michael Portillo still uses the Tube - I saw him on a Met train a few months ago, and then I saw him again boarding the same GNER train as me at Kings Cross when I went up north at the start of my hols!

Hob nobbing with the Rich and Famous then Alan? I've seen several of the BBC News types at various places around the District - Andrew Marr and Shuan Ley spring to mind.

I saw Caine Dingle out of Emmerdale (Believe me Yorkshire is the total opposite of fields and sheep!) I saw him in the middle of Halifax in West Yorkshire, and then I saw him on the Tube on the Bakerloo Line.
Meh is all I can say.
