With the new timetable from 24 August, trains from Bank to Lewisham in that direction only will use the new avoiding line at West India Quay and will thus not stop at that station - but in rush hours only.

It is probably not non-stopping in widest possible meaning - I mean, there is no platform to pass anymore.

But there is still a station to pass!
The first piece of pedantry would only be valid if it was to say that those trains will no longer be "calling" there.
I wonder if DLR will bother indicating this on the map or just rely on anecdotal knowledge? I assume just a text explanation is all that can be added - there's no neat way it could be shown graphically.

I assume just a text explanation is all that can be added - there's no neat way it could be shown graphically. It would be almost impossible to show it on the map without using text. You would have to use arrows to show that it is only from Bank, and dotted lines to show that it's a peak hours only service. On the LU map, the DLR is shown with a white stripe in the line, so you then have a line shown as two rows of dots. That could be difficult for people to see, but the main problem is there's no way of showing a the service that does stop at WIQ, that doesn't run in the peaks.

You could argue that the DLR is already non-stopping the new South Quay station, as that appears almost finished. Presumably when it opens there will be a time the DLR non-stops the existing station before it is decomissioned?

Sorry to go off-topic here, but I havent seen it since mid July. Here is the link for when I passed it: cuthut.com/BpWIt will be a bit of a challenge to display the service patterns on the maps. Tourists will need to understand the new maps/stickers easily as well.

Pretty good, it's quite clear what's happening, the only thing I can think of would be if all the ticks went the same way (getting rid of the one pointing towards the bypass line), but I understand that that doesn't fit the style of the rest.
For your next challenge, how's it going to be shown on the "Tube Map"?

That looks ok, but it could be confusing as it doesn't show that no Bank - Lewisham trains stop at WIQ in the peaks (some people might think that only some of the services don't stop). I think the text could be changed to something like "Bank - Lewisham trains do not stop at West India Quay in peak hours".

Easy... with a dagger next to the station name and a footnote at the bottom!!! ;D No seriously, I'll have a go when I get home this evening.

For your next challenge, how's it going to be shown on the "Tube Map"? You wouldn't show it, in the same way that the Met shows all stations.

Some of the Met Line enamel diagrams at stations show stations non-stopped as do the car line diagrams I believe?

I wonder how will they fit the Stratford International extension next year? It certainly does not fit into current (horizontal) type of map.

I never noticed how tight it would be on the horizontal map! They'll have to push the Stratford branch up a bit so they can fit in a decent line from Canning Town to Stratford

Given that the tube map doesn't show that not all Met services call at all stations, why would they attempt to show it for West India Quay?

You're quite right, it wouldn't actually be fitting to try and show it on the Tube Map. But if it was... farm3.static.flickr.com/2560/3819123102_8e26f5eca7.jpg

Here's what I envisaged when I tried to address this problem back in 2005. farm3.static.flickr.com/2485/3818336013_50e0e0f7ae_b.jpgI know what the problems are with this map (zones, font, ELL, Langdon Park, etc.); these were things I know now that I didn't know then, and I can't be bothered reworking it right now! Suffice to say I think I'd start from scratch to be honest.

Well they have started to add a small sticker on the car maps, with a dagger explaining that trains from Bank will stop at West India Quay at peak hours. They must of been added at the weekend because they was not on the trains last week.

If a DLR train is out of service (due to defect or vandalism etc) does it pass through the station at full line speed? Or slow to like 5mph, similar to some LUL stations) ?
