More than likely an aid for train number recognition being put in (although a position prior to this signal would have been better - because by then you already have the wrong signal lowered ;D ) Or it could just have been put there to make you paranoid drivers even more paranoid that we're spying on you or trying to catch you doing something

Speaking of cameras I have seen some kind of camera-looking things in the Blackfriars platform areas. What are these for?
I did have a thought they are to catch trains going through the starter at over 10mph.
And didn't they try this number recognition camera system before, and give it up :S

I am tempted to wobble one with a shoe paddle and see if a panic ensues ;D ;D

And didn't they try this number recognition camera system before, and give it up :S You're probably referring to some of the more "high-tech" number recognition trials they have tried. What I was referring to was a camera/picture which a "human being" would refer to before clearing the signal. That said, on a journey through the Edgware Road area yesterday, I saw said camera, plus a number of other "new" installations, and think maybe it is more to do with security (against graffiti) than anything else. In the tunnel? Past experience suggests yes.

Metcon - "the wrong signal lowered" - does this mean you'd like the trains pained chocolate-and-cream too?

That would look good. Plus of course I should add that the camera could also be there to check there is both a driver and a fireman. And it should be pointed out that when I saw the camera, it did indeed have a chap standing to the rear of it with a cover over his head, holding up what can only be presumed to be a flash gun.
