Are the new bogie frames the same design as the old ones, or are there any differences?

Will they allow the trains to return to 100km/h running, or is that an issue with the motors still?

Seems also to be a problem with flats on wheels too... horrid knocking noise on 91271.

the new bogie frames are a new design but the general dimensions are the same as the existing frames. This enables re-use of pretty much all of the bogie mounted equipment.
There are associated changes to the motor mounting and to the gearbox.

Their is a BAD issue with the motors at the moment, try to keep you informed.! Alongside the bogies replacement is a total motor overhaul. Removed motors are AIUI stripped and one major component is overhauled and modified by an external contractor. Acton are to have a special production line to both re-assemble the motors mating the external overhauled bits with the overhauled rest, fit to bogie, and fit bogie to train. There is some waflle about all this in the new internal mag ''Maintenance Matters'' but its a bit glossy and vague. I been trying to find more nitty gritty technical details for my own interest before this thread came up but not got anywhere yet.

Presumably this implies that the fleet isn't likely to be replaced soon then? Cos IIRC someone mentioned a few months back that their replacement was being considered.

No chance of replacements yet! It's summat like 2017 before the Piccy even gets considered! I've said all along they badly need a mid life refresh; Metronet was supposed to address this, but their collapse has meant this has had to be reconsidered. It's fine addressing these flashovers and locked traction motors but internally, they are diabolical.

There seem to be fewer cancellations then there were a few months ago.

I saw a Central Line train at Leyton earlier this week with new bogies fitted. The train was leaving as I came down the stairs so I couldn't see how many bogies were replaced or snap a picture in time.
Also the kit attached to the bogie looked new too!

Oddly enough, I saw a lorry loaded with bogie frames parked up outside a retail park just of the north circular on Tuesday, hope he wasn't taking them to Halfords. Anybody any idea what he was doing there?
