A single part question again today, but a whole heap of bonus points for the insets, and also another for working out why the location was chosen for today. *Click image for a larger version* For ease, the insets are numbered according to the diagram below

I'd guess Euston for the main pic. 2 looks like Paddington with Heathrow Express behind.

Euston looks good to me
1 = Gloucester? 2 = Paddington 5 = Somewhere on the line out towards Oban / Fort William? It's an RETB loop and it's not one from round my direction.

I think you're right pgb with the crossing loop being RETB [1], but I'm racking my brain to think of one up that way with an island platform and a footbridge, rather than subway. Helensburgh Upper has the bridge and platform but isn't a TEP. How about the sole English installation from Westerfield to Oulton Broad on the East Suffolk?
[1] having squinted at the stop boards, I dont think it is NSKT or NSKT(R); RETB seems the most likely option.

Hmmm. You have insets 1, 2 and 5 but not the other two, nor the main location. Due to the early hour, I'll leave this open for now as originally presented.

I'll take a punt at Seven Sisters for the main picture.

The main location is neither Seven Sisters nor Notting Hill Gate. The reason why the station was chosen is also still to be found. The following versions may help. Inset 2 and the reason for choosing Kew Gardens still remain to be identified on the 1st of June thread as well. Main location: (click for a larger version) Inset 1: Horton Rd level crossing, viewed from east end of Gloucester station (click for a larger version) Inset 2: Road-Rail machine at Paddington, 2008-11-02 (click for a larger version) Inset 3: (click for a larger version) Inset 4: (click for a larger version) Inset 5: Footbridge at Rannoch station (click for a larger version)

How about King's X for the main location? It looks tatty enough.

The main location is Kings Cross, somewhere en-route from the Northern Line to the Victoria Line.

That image 4 is interesting. The foliage and shocking trackwork points to a sub-tropical abroad. The high platforms and tight clearance suggests former Empire. Cast ironwork suggests Victorian era..... Is it in Australia?
