At the end of platform 9 at Ealing Broadway there is a large concrete block, looks like it may have been part of a bufferstop complex at some point, am i right, or is it just a random block of concrete??

It was a buffer stop for a short shunting neck. There used to be a lot more sidings and loops at Ealing Broadway, mainly to facilitate in-service coupling and uncoupling.

Q8 has posted lots and lots of threads on coupling and uncoupling at Ealing Broadway. Any 1970s-era photo of the area should show the additional sidings.
