Can anyone please help with a bit info about the CWL pre-WW2.
When it reopened after WW2 it was "rush hours only". I also know that the Midland Railway service via the CWL to south of the Thames ended in 1908 and the direct service from south of the Thames to Moorgate via the Smithfield Curve ended in 1916.
Was the service pre-WW2 rush hours only, or was it an all-day service until then?
Thanks in advance.

From what I have read in Geoff Goslin's book "Steam on the Widened lines", published by Connor and Butler it states that from 1932 Moorgate received 10 trains in the morning, and 9 left in the evening, some of which went via the Tottenham and Hampstead [Goblin today] including a 5.19 to Upminster.
Services were suspended in 1939, resumed a year later, but then suspended again in 1941.

I've got a 1914 CWL in the library which *might* be too early; I think I might have something a bit nearer the time.....
*goes digging*
Oo....
76 GN trains, of those 26 SO and 14 SE.
39 Mid trains, of those 9 SO and 11 SE.
Nothing then until 1949 I'm afraid - though I will go through the immediate pre-war WTT with a fine-tooth comb.
