That was pretty much everything (train wise) mentioned to myself by the DDM, along with a C stock, a battery loco or two and either the track recording train or the asset inspection train.........however.....
The depot staff are only realistically expecting to see half that lot for two main reasons:
1) the engineering works out on the main line will mean that all rail stock has to be within depot limits by close of traffic on the Friday.
2) the yard will be rather full with D stock as a result of the aforementioned engineering works - whether there is enough rail space to accommodate the whole lot and allow room to shunt stock around, so that the D stocks are railed in position for service after the open day, remains to be calculated.
Naturally it would be awesome if they could assemble all of the above, but don't be surprised if something ends up getting dropped.
There's a whole lot more being planned, such as viewing under some of the rail stock via the shed pits, a D stock car lifted in the lifting shop with the bogie's removed, various stalls selling transport related items, food stalls, static bus displays, other vehicles or areas of the business (ie, ERU, school liaison, HR), etc, etc.
The Upminster depot staff, who are part of what was Metronet, are so enthusiastic about this event & are putting in such an effort to ensure it's success that I suspect it really will be something very special.

I thought the Friends' 'wish list' was a bit optimistic...

Could'nt some D stock be stabled in Barking sidings if there's enough room?

If more trains are stabled there than normal there might be a problem with preparing them in time for the morning service. I don't know, but train preparation is often mentioned regarding out-stabling.

Are there normally a few C stocks at Barking too? They may need to be re-housed!

Could'nt some D stock be stabled in Barking sidings if there's enough room? You can only put 3, or it might be 4, D stocks at Barking (no WTT to hand) owing to the number of C stocks that are booked to stable there. It's all academic on this particular shut down though as there will already be 3 extra D stocks at Barking, as per the special WTT for the said shut down. So the lack of rail space at Upminster already takes account of possible outstabling!! If more trains are stabled there than normal there might be a problem with preparing them in time for the morning service. I don't know, but train preparation is often mentioned regarding out-stabling. It's an irrelevant issue in this case as trains are routinely prepped over night at Barking - it's only an issue when trains are out stabled somewhere that isn't a normal routine location for the purpose.

Just to let everyone know, it would appear the Romford line is PROBABLY now running on the Saturday, but obviously not on the Sunday! I should say that the work that was planned is nowhere to be found on the website of National Express East Anglia, so I would confirm nearer the time via the website.
Can anyone confirm the following yet: a) whether tfl HR will be there or not? b) the arrangements for the bus service, particularly the time of the first departure on the Saturday from the station?
When anyone is able to confirm either, please either pm or email me!

You can have John Hampden if you like. Unfortunately the second floor of the museum is in the way.
(Must remember to phone museum as I'm sure they'll need me to do something or other)

There is a Three page thread on this subject up above in the 'Forum & Site Announcements' board. As that is now the current thread, I'll lock this one after this post. In answer to your questions though: tickets are £10, and the answer to staff discounts is being sought - not so sure what you mean by "LU Privs" though Perhaps you could post in the thread above if you still have any questions.....
