From November 2007 Silverlink Station Staff at Kew Gardens & Gunnersbury will transfered to London Underground, the Stations & Track on the Richmond Branch will still be National Rail owned.

Will these stations be rebranded with Underground/Overground signage or will they retain National Rail-style signage?
What about other amenities like LU ticket machines?

I bet the staff will be happy, huge increase in their wages for a start.
I would imagine the stations concerned will get "overground" branding/signage, in keeping with the other stations on the route.

We will have to wait until 2008 to see how the stations are refurbished, it takes time to plan this type of work.

Not a prayer! If I have to keep up with every change the west end of the line will resemble 1990 and the east end 2010! I've been 'backtracking' periodically add changes (e.g. add speed boards, change signals) but there's a limit...

Would I be right in supposing that the other NLL stations are, and will remain, unstaffed? One improvement I would hope for would be the provision of street maps - I came out of Canonbury on a cloudy day not so long ago having made a complete pig's *rse of my mental map and was forced to ask directions, just like a girlie

I heard a rumour that staff will be put into LUL uniform but remain on their current terms and conditions. ie: SA at Turnham Green £21k and the SA at the next station, Gunnersbury, on £13k and half the holiday. I sincerely hope it's not true. Also seems funny Ken privatising one line (ELL) and "re-nationalising" bits of others... Call me an old cynic, but might be worth keeping an eye on how this develops before singing it's praises.

Re the sa salary differential, I hope not, dont think most staff [not to mention the unions] would be happy about that.

the disparity between all grades on NR and LU are bad enough as it is... This will not help the situation of working relations... What they need to do is come to a compromise or a local agreement... Can't see it for the hills tho...

If this goes through, there WILL be trouble! And rightly so!

And what about the seniority side? that will affect many issues close to the heart, pension plans &c. all come into the equation...

I remember seeing on the Silverlink website about a year ago, they wanted a GSM [Group station manager] Salary was 25k, NR do pay badly, especially on the station side!
GSM on the tube-at least 45/50k, my old one was on 60k!

exactly... who will do the same job for half the money? And definately wildly differing terms and conds? What about if a member of staff from NR and TfL/LUL have to go to Grievance Procedures? The end result is liable to be different... I see Danger ahead is this goes through... If this goes through, there WILL be trouble! And rightly so! I heard a rumour that staff will be put into LUL uniform but remain on their current terms and conditions. That to me sounds like they are being forced and haven't been given a choice/say in the matter...

Any decent union (rep) will be able to sort that out in a jiffy anyway!
