Why exactly do they need to do driver training with a C stock to Ruislip, when it is very unlikely that a C stock will be diverted to there? (Also, those units have been running together since at least 9/4/2009, when I saw them at Southfields - how often do they uncouple units?)

Nice shots! Has C Stock ever run along the EB Local from Northfields? Also, is there a speed restriction under bridges up to South Harrow?

Also, is there a speed restriction under bridges up to South Harrow? Yes - 15mph for all surface stocks.

(Also, those units have been running together since at least 9/4/2009,) The type of train is not directly rellevant to the training in progress as the run was for route knowledge training not type familiarisation. A C stock train was used as it is the only type certified for use in ALL of the places required on this day and is routenely available to Instructors on a Sunday being sourced from Barking Sidings. Many engineering train operators are presently being familiarised who need network wide knowledge. The west leading unit incorporates one of the "C09" trailers and hence the paintwork is good on this train

Also, is there a speed restriction under bridges up to South Harrow? Yes, not all bridges. Specifically bridges D4, D24 and D62. There are a few other speed limits specifically signed for sub-surface stock en-route.

They are C08, not C09, and they are 6606 and 6734. 6548 was just rebuilt.

Ta for the info...to my poor eyes there appears to be little clearance for the train under the bridge!

Nice shots! Has C Stock ever run along the EB Local from Northfields? Also, is there a speed restriction under bridges up to South Harrow? Yes to the first bit. Back in 1970/71 when they were new and being tested, they regularly used the eb Picc from Northfields for testing purposes. I got a lift on one from Acton to EC one day with a trainman's inspector on it. He reckoned there were over 120 modifications to be made before they could enter service. One was to move the whistle button from the left corner of the cab. As built, with the brake on, it wqas not possible for the driver to reach the whistle button; another was to change the locks on the DSDIC cupboard in the cab from screw fasteners to the normal reverser key locks.

Thanks RTB! I don't ever recall them but this was before I started regular commuting in July 1973.

Great pics!
Very weird to see surface stock there, I use the branch a lot.
