Any of our District drivers cross over to my side of the tracks today?.
The points/signal failure at Turnham Green led to Ealing Broadway trains using the wesbound fast between Hammersmith and Acton, all the way into platform 2. Is it still going on now?

Yes but got the route in pfm1 at Acton WB.
Should be going on until close of traffic.

Will end at 21:30 tonight when the points will be blown over the normal, to resume the Ealing service, and replacement buses will run to Richmond instead.

Heading to Ashfield House today, got to Victoria all trains on the DMI were Wimbledon. Having previously checked and knowing there were problems, I decided to get that to West Brompton and walk through Lille Bridge. However, when I got to Earls Court, I noticed an Ealing Broadway service in the opposite platform, so rushed over to that. Train was being held in the platform, with the driver doing an announcement about how it would be non-stop Barons court to Turnham Green (I think). The train I had got to Earls Court left. As the driver was announcing about him being non-stop, the controller called him up on the radio, (heard the beeping over the PA). A minute later he announced:
'Ladies and Gentlemen, I am sorry to announce that the Piccadilly line has refused to take our train on their railway, so our train will be diverted to Wimbledon'.
And with that the packed carriage I was in suddenly had 3 people in it. So went to West Brompton anyway - (don't worry, as we pulled out I noticed my manager on the platform anyway)!

Some trains also ran via platform 2 at Gloucester Road during the off peak, following problems with points between there and South Kensington - funnily enough they're electric too!

Any of our District drivers cross over to my side of the tracks today?. Yes, and a slow and less scenic journey it was, it took me 15 minutes to get from Hammersmith to Acton. and I couldn't even look into peoples gardens.

They weren't 'racing', the Ealing was held at the inner home and being passed by numerous Richmonds!

Oh now i'm unhappy. 2 years I've been waiting for this and I go and get the Piccadilly rather than wait for the 1/2 hourly Ealing Broadways at Earls Court...
So what sort of impact did this have on the Picc - was it the reason for their minor delays?

I can't imagine why 2 extra TPH would have that much of an impact at all on the 'fast' ... I suspect it was District drivers going slow as they are not sure of the route..
This kind of thing happening highlights the requirement, I believe, of officially training District Ops on the fast and Picc ops on the local.. and having a few 'rusty rail' moves a day (early morning/late night) that involve that move. Then when this kind of thing happens there wont be such a big fuss! Ditto for GRD-HSK

Or were they non-stopping Ravenscourt Park and Stamford Brook?

There really shouldn't be any fuss at all - we run parallel alongside each others tracks, and pass all the signals on a daily basis.

Hmm, dunnit years ago, Acton Town-Hammersmith when one of the Ruston diesels failed on the X track coming from Northfields to Acton Town. I suspect I put details of that on another thread here. Quite nice, R stock on the eb Picc., a much smoother ride than the 60TS
