Have you noticed how dirty the exteriors of the refurbs are ? they are so dirty they look like the prerefurbs I cant remember the last time the wash was working at Upminster. Disgusting

Hmm.....
All lines seem to have dirty trains at the moment - I suspect it could be to do with saving water usage rather than a faulty wash machine.

It is usual to suspend washing if there is a risk of freezing. Otherwise the water on the outside of the trains freezes the door rubbers together.

I agree with that comment - but the trains haven't been washed for 2-3 months now......it hasn't been cold all that time.

It is usual to suspend washing if there is a risk of freezing. Otherwise the water on the outside of the trains freezes the door rubbers together. The wash at Upminster used to wash all the time in all weathers until the weather turns to freezing then automatically stops for fear of ripping the washing fabric off the rollers, but it hasn't been working at all and Ive noticed it being worked on plenty of times in the last few months. It must be something they cant fix.

I would have expected Metronet to be getting some "aggro" from LU over this - surely the ambience vote applies to the outside of the trains as well as the inside...?

And funnily enough, ambience is also part of our long running pay dispute - 'they' want to make it part of a bonus scheme linked to customer survey's.........but that's another thread [/rant]

I saw a refurb train about 2 months ago when going to Wimbledon on Thameslink (I was at Westminster) coming off the Jubilee Line. The train was highly graffitied and when I saw it I thought it was a pre-refurb it was so grey!

Just goes to show the power of the Internet, I was on 2 Refurbs today and they were spotless! is it coincidence or were they sitting around in the shops for a long time, I suspect they were cleaned in Ealing Common Depot overnight ( have you seen the amount of cleaners at Ealing Common on nights? 100 plus! The wash is STILL not operating at Upminster

I have "booked off" several refurb trains as needing an exterior clean on their respective defect cards in the last few days !!! Several have large amounts of "graffitti" finger drawn into the dirt .... at least thats easier to remove than "tag graffitti" ;D

have you seen the amount of cleaners at Ealing Common on nights? 100 plus! Yeah, too many. Us night blokes can't sit and read our working manuals in peace on the trains without being disturbed

If the train wash is broken, doesn't anyone have a mop and bucket anywhere?

doesn't anyone have a mop and bucket anywhere? Very unlikely, in the quantities needed, nor the man (or person) power.

The wash at Upminster is now working ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D It sure is, a train that came through it however was still filthy albeit soaking. Didn't look like the brushes were doing their job.

I can assure you the new brushes are doing their job - unfortunately, the detergent isn't getting put on, and the first of the water jets weren't working yesterday
