From another forum: While you are down in the nation's capital on the 19th [November] you may beinterested to know that the District Line is suspended between Earl's Court & Embankment. This *should* result in the use of the Trailing WB-EB # from platform 1 at Embankment. Agreed, but Embankment # is 'old hat' - I did it 5th February 1995. Interesting if this is the case! Also that at least one punter has been over the crossover. Is there another at Victoria please or am I daydreaming again?

There are no crossovers at Victoria, but until 1967 there was one at St. James's Park.
And if the line is suspended between Earl's Court and Embankment then the crossover will undoubtedly be in use (yippee!!).

I see no reason to suspect the document wrong - if it says that the District is shut between Embankment and Whitechapel, then it probably is. I don't see anything advertising a closure between Earl's Court and Embankment though.

I think it's wishful thinking that has clouded the eyesight! However, weekend 20-21 January seems to be ok!

The time that is mentioned is probably when trains were reversing West to East due to the Jubilee Line extension works. The service was Upminster to Embankment, with trains leaving in service Eastbound from the Westbound platform. This has also been used since then, although I can't remember exact dates.

It was used during the emergency shutdown over the weekend before the first of the District Main Line track replacement works between Earl's Court and Whitechapel. Due to the collapsed drain at Victoria, Metronet had to suspend at once or else it would not have been able to run the heavy engineer's trains into the possession sites. More fool I for not recognizing my desire to be a trackbasher at that time
