I was the D78 stock the other saturday and noticed that the train I was on still had 'alight' instead of 'exit' as a part of its CIS.
Then today, on two district line trains, again 'alight' was used and not 'exit', giving me the impression they've reverted back to how it was a year or so ago.
I thought they wanted to get away from 'alight' as it confused customers - does anyone know why they reverted back?

Well it's a universally used term and it's more accurate than "exit", so good job.

And what was wrong with the traditional "git orf ere".

By pandering to the public and wrapping them up in cotton wool, saying "please change here for... " etc just makes them ignore it. However, if you add a touch of abruptness and tell them how it is, they are more than likely to pay attention. Some might say that saying "git orff 'ere" might cause offence.

What about "Change here for [other transport services]. This is the station for [local attractions]".
Nah. Too simple.

D stock seems to be using 'alight' again, but C stock still says 'exit'. I read on the internet somewhere that 'exit' sounds like 'eggs hit' so maybe that is why it is being changed back to 'alight'. I also saw a poster at Hammersmith that said 'Going to Westfield? Get off at Wood Lane.'

'Going to Westfield? Get off at Wood Lane.' In a similar vain, the age old notice on bus doors always said YOU MUST NEVER GET OFF BETWEEN STOPS DOING SO IS BOTH DANGEROUS AND ILLEGALI did once persuade a particularly gullible friend to believe that it was against the rules to be overly friendly with their other half when the bus was in motion ;D.

Reminds me when I was on the Bakerloo - the DVA had failed and when we arrived at Elephant and Castle, the driver shouted down the PA: 'This is Elephant and Castle, change here for the Northern line but I wouldn't bother as it has severe delays, this train terminates here, GET OFF!
