Surely this is all a load of ES hype? If the District had SPADed it would have only been traveling at 10/15MPH? "An investigation has been launched after two packed tube trains came within seconds of colliding in London. The driver of a District line train was reportedly horrified to see a Piccadilly line train passing just in front of him after leaving Ealing Broadway station. The Piccadilly line train was said to be travelling at 25 mph and both trains would have been derailed if they crashed. A signalman has now been suspended as investigators look into the near-miss during Friday evening rush-hour, the Evening Standard reported. Disaster may only have been averted because the District line train had earlier passed a red signal and was brought to an immediate halt for a few minutes. As the driver finally moved off the Piccadilly line train passed right in front. A TfL spokesperson said: "Safety is London Underground's top priority and we have an excellent safety record. "Following an incident, involving a District line and Piccadilly line train, on Friday an investigation has been launched by LU and the HM Railway Inspectorate and the Rail Accident Investigation Board have been notified."
