Just a quick question regarding CO/CP stock. At what point in history were they fitted with tripcock reset cords on the front end. If I am planning to model a CP set as running on the District in the early to mid 60s do I have to put them on the ends or can I (please) leave them of? Thank you.

Sorry mate, between 1953-58 the whistle and tripcock reset cord was altered! You're going to have to put them on!

Found a couple of pictures in the excellent LURS 'The COP Stock Story' by Piers Connor of CO/CP stock in the sixties WITHOUT tripcock reset cords. One pictures a unit parked between a set of F stock and a seemingly new set of A60 stock which confirms the decade! The other shows a set at Amersham on a working captioned to be 'in the early 60s'. I may get away with it yet....... ;D

Last question on this thread... I hope. Does anyone know which vehicles migrated to the District line in 1962? Us modellers are a picky lot and, if I put the wrong numbers on my planned set, someone is bound to pick me up on it! Thank you (again).

It is in the 'COP' stock story I think. Basically, many of the modifications on the P stock were carrried out when the Metropolitan line stock was transfered to the District becoming CP stock on the way!
If you want to do the standard district train in the early 60s, then you want DM-T-DM+DM-T-DM as a 6 car train. Because the A62 stock did not start coming on board until 1962-63 many CP trains did not start running on the District until 1963-64. Most CO stock ran on the H&C and Circle lines until displaced by C69 stock. More movement dates see p40-51
I've made a start with my CO/CP stock too, adding all the grab rails is a pain!
My 4 car unit is 53197-54056+53056-54197. This was the first O/P unit converted in 1955 to run on the Circle Line and on trial on the Met.

Just spotted the info in the 'COP'stock story. That what comes of reading books when tired. You miss the important bits! When it happens my set will be a six-car as described above. Before that though I have to finish my Q stock and get started big time on my R stock set that I curently have one vehicle (unfinished) of. It could be a long wait......

Q8 once told me about the time he picked up an 8 car set on the district formed of all motors. Apparently the term 'flying' didnt cover its performance!

Was it one of those occasions when use of full power from a standing start meant that the Driver had to peeled off of the cab bulkhead afterwards.....
