I'll be starting a new job at Canary Wharf in July, and I'll change from the Central to the DLR at Stratford. There's lots of info about about the new platform connecting to the upper level but annoyingly not when they expect it to be complete! TfL's site seems to be having a funny 5 minutes as the Contact Us page just times out (or is that intentional? ;D), does anyone here know when it's expected to open? Could cut my commuting time by a whole 2 minutes I suspect!

Well there are Sunday closures between Liverpool Street and Stratford in connection with the construction for a good few months yet, so I suspect it won't be open until the latter part of the year.

...and I'll change from the Central to the DLR at Stratford. I've done this commute before - you'd be better off getting the Jubbly. Faster and more frequent.

I did consider it, but my building is just west of the DLR station on Chancellor Passage so the Jub is a fair walk + going deep underground which sort of balances out the extra speed. Of course when 96 stock + ATO starts, the Jubilee will win hands down.

Indeed, Jubbly is closer to Heron Quays than Canary Wharf by 50m!

Is 3a the official number for this new platform?

There is no official tittle been presented to operational yet. Tom on here may know better. As for the I/Op's and any official information from the LSM's office, there is still the issue of OPO monitors, and in cab CCTV, CSDE issues, which side to close first and protocols. We are none the wiser. Will there be major safety issues, as the line may well experience Notting Hill Carnival type crowds every day for two weeks! As for the Olympic planning; on the intranet there is lots of who's doing what, but not a lot of action for a major worldwide event now just about 3 years away. Will LU/LT balls this up?

I heard the plan was for the whole Stratford station to be renumbered in a new world-class sequence upon completion of all the new works. Or would that be far too sensible?

I think I've seen on here that the much-needed renumbering will have to wait until NR-resignalling, which isn't due to happen until after 2012...

3A is the identity used for the new platform for the last three years or so - whether or not this becomes permanent is anyone's guess.
