i found out today why there was such a big failure at south ken yesterday evening it was due to a mouse YES A MOUSE getting fried on the 600v transformer in the power room at south ken this feeds the IMR (Interlocking Machine Room) but was not found until today as they needed to make a isolation during the night to the transformer so we could of removed it before we got a nice belt from it.

We had the same problem at SMD Monday, complete loss of signal control due to mice infestation in the trackside equipment boxes. Depot signalling control was transferred to the Manual Points Control Panel (MPCP) at 14.00 on Monday, with all train movements requiring all points to be 'Secured'. Tubelines signal staff commence repair work, at 22.30 some roads re-commissioned for MPCP routing without 'Securing'. Due to the Professionalism of the Staff in the Control Tower, there was no customer impact

How robust are the various IMR/SER complexes' entry and exit points? Surely they would not have any holes (i.e. for ventilation) big enough for a mouse to get into?

depends how well the cable entry to the room was plugged or if there was a big enough gap under the door usually these doors are of a type like a submarine door but this door is just like a normal metal door

Ah shame.
Mind you, most of these rooms smell like something has died in them anyway.

Do any of the rooms have that musty "old stuff" smell, i.e. from aged insulation?
