There is some sort of problem with the server that is currently being diagnosed, the absolute latest (and I appreciate this will be double dutch to many of you) is
09:05 FireFury: I can ping silver just fine
09:05 FireFury: have been able to all morning
09:05 FireFury: and silver answers connections
09:05 FireFury: unfortunately, it doesn't actually do anything with those connections once they have been answered
09:05 FireFury suspects silver's load average is probably in the hundreds, or userland is completely dead
("silver" is the name of the server)

Well the server has been rebooted, and is now working. No idea what the cause was as yet though :/
