SE13 forgot to note that there is a bonus available for working out why this station was chosen for today. Also, this very question is still outstanding from when Bank appeared as the picture on the 23rd.

I'll amend my answer and say;
South Acton, and 28th February 1959 was the day the shuttle from Acton Town was withdrawn.

SE13 forgot to note that there is a bonus available for working out why this station was chosen for today. I didn't actually forget, I just didn't remember...... Sadly I was half way up Lincoln High Street this morning on the way to work when it dawned on me..... Sorry....

Wahay!!! I Know one for definate!!! South Acton! The view from the cab when hoping that Bollo Lane box doesn't give you the 'feather' and try and send your container train to Gunnersbury! Heading straight on takes you to Kew East Junction and your next signal is a semaphore! I got accused of a SPAD by the signaller there once. The track circuit had failed in front of me and she assumed that it was because I was past the signal protecting the junction. She was quite taken aback when I suggested (politely) that if she looked out of her window she would see exactly where my train was stopped! She apologised profusely....

Also, this very question is still outstanding from when Bank appeared as the picture on the 23rd. The only thing I know of which 28th Feb is known for is the Moorgate crash, but I can't think what that has to do with South Acton.

Indeed it is the anniversary of Moorgate, although this, as you said, has nothing to do with the answer. It is South Acton. *Please note that no larger version is available* *The author of the picture wishes to remain anonymous*

I'll amend my answer and say; South Acton, and 28th February 1959 was the day the shuttle from Acton Town was withdrawn. This is the right answer, so well done for your amendment.
