The "Circles to go" thread has drifted slightly, so I hope the admins will indulge my starting a new one.
More details are now emerging in respect of the formulation of the new SSR timetable for December 2009.
Hammersmith to Edgware Road, substanatially increased to every 5 mins. which gives a reduced service every 10 mins round the Circle and a 20 min service to each of Plaistow and Barking. Whitechapel reversing will not be timetabled.
This provides an increased service from Whitechapel to Plaistow, but a reduced one from Plaistow to Barking.
District Line running times will be increased, with consequential recovery time at termini reduced.
District service reduced on peak shoulders and peak hours of operation made later in keeping with demand. One additional Upminster to Richmond trip in morning peak.
Olympia service reduced to every 20 mins
Reduced frequency (nature of reduction not stated) at the East end of the District Line.
Increased service on the Wimbledon branch in peaks (again) but with 2 more trains running via City and one less to Edgware Road than at present.
One extra District train in service all day. (unclear how this is utilised)
Metropolitan - one extra train per hour to Aldgate (to part off set the reduced H&C and Circle)
Chesham to retain shuttle, for the moment, but through trains needed when S stock provide the full service
Met line changes not fully finalised yet.
For the most part the gains are percieved to be through better reliability (Tangiable gains are limited to Hammersmith and, as usual, Wimbledon branches). Losses to Olympia, Circle, East End of District and East End of H&C.
The scheme is not quite finalised as yet. no doubt more info will be revealed as the year progresses !

Isn't there supposed to be some trial runs of this timetable on some summer weekends?

There are indeed - though I suspect it is only a trial in so far as the H&C/Circle lines; if it doesn't involve the District & Met too, it'll be a pointless exercise as they won't actually be trialling it properly.

Chesham to retain shuttle, for the moment, but through trains needed when S stock provide the full service Met line changes not fully finalised yet. It depends what plans you've seen I have seen the draft H&C timetable plus a few other things - mind you, in the position I'm in (being a major factor in running the railway) you would hope I'd seen something ;D As for the Chesham shuttle, that is basically now decided as discussed here

Reduced frequency (nature of reduction not stated) at the East end of the District Line. I've heard (but cannot substantiate!) that this involves having Monday - Saturday off peak Dagenham East reversers. Which will all turn into Barking reversers when the service gets delayed.

Regarding the one extra Met per hour to the City, will that come from Uxbridge, Watford, Amersham, or Chesham?

So if they need less trains on the C&H are they looking to drop the establishment of drivers for the new timetable?

So if they need less trains on the C&H are they looking to drop the establishment of drivers for the new timetable? No, it increases on all lines, plans of course fluid. 19 extra C & H. (9 at Hammersmith and 10 at Barking) 6 extra Metropolitan (at Neasden) 13 extra District (all at Acton Town !!) (with a possibility of a reduction of 10 at Barking District transfering to Upminster - due to accomodation space for the H & C, rather than timetabling)

Regarding the one extra Met per hour to the City, will that come from Uxbridge, Watford, Amersham, or Chesham? From what I have seen, it is planned to keep the off-peak city Mets as Uxbridge services as they are now - albeit with slightly tweaked / altered frequencies to enable to extra train to be squeezed in. Peak hour services will be more or less as now, with trains coming from all 3 branches.

to clear up what appears to be some slight confusion in this thread, the extra Met train to the City is only in the two peaks.
outside of the peaks it remains 6 tph ex Uxbridge as per now.

That's not what I've seen. It was on one of the proposals early on, but not on what was meant to be the latest material. To quote myself from earlier: ...in the position I'm in (being a major factor in running the railway) you would hope I'd seen something ;D And if I haven't seen it all, the question should surely be to those who do know whats happening, is why don't I?

I think the plan to run Uxbridge-Aldgate every 6 mins has been dropped, there won't be enough trains! That was an early idea at least. Des anyone know whats happening?

It would be in the usual way of things to run to 15" periods over the north side of the circle if the C&H runs at 5" intervals from Hammersmith. The Met would therefore run at 10" intervals from Baker Street, not as at present as a 8" - 12" interval and that would then leave a spare 10" interval path during the off peak. On the other side of the circle there would be a similar service of 10" interval Circle, Richmond, Wimbledon and Ealing services. This would see a 2.5" interval service of the south side of the circle from Tower Hill to Gloucester Road and a 2.5" - 5" interval service between Edgware Rd and Liverpool Street.

Please could someone"in the know" indicate what the service through Bayswater will be, and compare it with the present one? I fear the worst...

Every 5 mins, if the Wimbleware continues to serve Edgware Road. If not, every 10mins, to Hammersmith via Victoria and Edgware Road only!!

and compare it with the present one? At the moment, Circles run every 8.5 mins, and Wimblewares every 10 mins.

I think the plan to run Uxbridge-Aldgate every 6 mins has been dropped, there won't be enough trains! That was an early idea at least. Des anyone know whats happening? In a word, those that do, don't tend to share it with those that will have to work the service. The temptation when this comes in, is to allow only the service I have been informed about. So, if all I'm expecting X,Y and Z, then come day one, X, Y and Z is all that will operate ;D As for the Met plan, the idea was to reduce some of the huge lay-overs at Aldgate and Uxbridge to squeeze the extra train in without using any additional stock. The layovers are handy at the end of the morning peak, but after service recovery has taken place, you have A-stocks sitting around at each end for up to 15 minutes. Talk to your Met SCM, she has got the latest 'draft' WTT for comment. Therein lies a problem. She's not "my" Met SCM as we are not officially "Met" staff and regularly get left out of the loop. Maybe there is something lying in my inbox when I return tomorrow. Maybe she (and others) visit here, and the X,Y and Z scenario I mentioned above may not be as grim as it could be. Now let me recall those excellent Valuing Time behaviours.....

Did you go on the C&H and Met VTs? Seeing as I am in a similar situation to you. That's one of the downside of this line based management set up!

Why do you think that?
Wimblewares are every 10 mins off peak and every 8 mins in the peak.

Why do you think that? Wimblewares are every 10 mins off peak and every 8 mins in the peak. Because the timetables on the stations used to say so. Perhaps that's been changed. Well, clearly it has. I stand corrected.

The general theme here seems to be lack of concrete information from the people planning the service trickling down to the people expected to provide the service. I'm glad it's not just me who thinks that.

Did you go on the C&H and Met VTs? Seeing as I am in a similar situation to you. That's one of the downside of this line based management set up! Fortunately, I only had to attend the one related to the people who pay my wages - I am certainly not about to go asking to go again for the other line ;D The general theme here seems to be lack of concrete information from the people planning the service trickling down to the people expected to provide the service. I'm glad it's not just me who thinks that. And strangely enough (or probably not really thinking about it) even when that information comes down (in the form of draft timetables) it's all either wrong or already out of date. An email I saw today requested feedback by yesterday at the latest, but was only sent out last Friday. Some of us don't live on the job, and do have the odd rest day (much as sometimes it doesn't feel like it!)
