Yesterday on the Vic I noticed a DM car had a white roof! Is there a particular reason why? I didn't catch the number, as it was at the rear of the train, and I arrived on the platform just as it was leaving...

Is it DM 3172 (or is 3176) that had the experimental refurbishment pattern inside? Pretty certain that had differing colours in between the carrs, so I wonder if it extended to the roof.

Two units had a different seating layout when they were refurbished, and had grey ends (probably like the 73TS, but I haven't seen one).
EDIT: 'London Underground Rolling Stock' says that units 3016 and 3086 had their ends painted grey, but only 3086 had interior modifications. It has single transverse seats instead of double in the DMs, and 'perch seats' near the doors in the trailers. It doesn't say anything about them having white roofs, so it is probably a different unit that has a white roof.

Nuts! I wish I had caught that, had it been the experimental pattern!
