Very interesting, what age range is the advanced diploma intended for? I'm curious about the assumption that 3,000,000 people per day access the tube by escalator too.

Quoting the Royal Academy site: Mathematics for Engineering
The ASL qualification is based on a foundation year course taught at Loughborough University over many years. This course is designed for students without A level Mathematics who wish to go on to study engineering to degree level. It has been designed to contain all the necessary topics from A level Mathematics to facilitate such study. www.raeng.org.uk/education/diploma/maths/default.htmAs for your other question, I don't know how the 3 million figure is arrived at but it is often bandied about for the system as a whole.
