I've recently upgraded my operating system from Windows XP to Windows Vista. Before the upgrade, all of my Microsoft Train Simulator products were working fine.
When it came to transferring it all to Vista, however, I had to go and re-install them one by one. I then suddenly started having problems of Train simulator not working at all. I installed the base product, then Great Eastern. I then went to play Train simulator to make sure it was all working fine, which it was. So I came out of it to re-install London south east. When I checked again, it had stopped working.
So, thinking that that was the defective product, I un-installed it. But when I came to check again, it still wasn't working. Can anyone help?

Where does it crash?
The most likely culprit is the TSECTION.DAT file - this is a mapping of the the different track components used in the game - if this is replaced by an older version it will cause TS to crash.
Its possible the LSE install is overwriting the TSECTION.DAT from Great Eastern, which I think is newer.
Try reinstalling from scratch again, but after you install each route make a copy of the the Train Simulator\Global\tsection.dat file - if you open the file you will see a build number a few lines down - keep the highest version of this and if a route replaces it with an older version copy the latest one back over it.
Good Luck!

Have you installed the Train Simulator update after installing the base product. I've recently upgraded my XP to Vista and had no problems with MSTS. www.microsoft.com/games/pc/trainsim.aspx#downloadsother than that i think thestoon is right as Great Eastern is a newer product it should be installed after LSE but the installer program should recognise if a newer tsection.dat is installed already and if it is don't overwrite it.
