I heard 'Inspector Sands' come accross the PA system at Wembley Park yesterday. What does this mean, if it is possible to write it here? Thanks Metman.

This is strictly confidential information , restricted to railway official personnel I am afraid metman!
We are told that due to security issues and protection of the general public, we are never to broadcast what the 'Inspector Sands' message means...
However I trust your integrity and have PM'd you an explanation but please do not broadcast, or I may be in very very hot water ! !

I was at a sports venue when they were testing alarm systems, and the code phrases I heard were pretty clear to what they meant as far as I was concerned. I've come accross some seriously bizarre code phrases of the 'Inspector Sands' variety, and think why on earth did they choose that.

That's news to me - in any case it's already been discussed in detail on this very forum, so if it's meant to be secret, it's a bit late! The relevant thread is here: www.districtdave.proboards39.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=826I've come accross some seriously bizarre code phrases of the 'Inspector Sands' variety, and think why on earth did they choose that. Do you know anyone with the surname 'Sands'? There's yer answer

Do you know anyone with the surname 'Sands'? There's yer answer Bobby Sands the IRA hunger striker I'm pretty sure it's a reference to Sand in a fire bucket.

There's yer answer I link Sands with the buckets, and it is used as Mister Sands elsewhere... (And you don't want to use a common name, as staff are going through the procedures you don't want all the Mr Smith's stopping them saying 'is it me you're calling for' ) I was specifically thinking of some of the names used for other situations, which seem to vary more between organisations.
