Was reading up on old BR class 24/25s and stumbled across these two pictures from Booths. I was wondering what stock they were... Not pretty, don't look if you don't wanna see pics of dismembered trains! Pic OnePic TwoPictures are from this website: www.derbysulzers.com/

Interesting photos - I'd say Pic 1 = 59ts (look at the seat cover to the front of the photo - definitely Northern IMO) Pic 2 = 67ts (more difficult, but the stock seems more modern with longer windows - I'm suggesting that this is again Northern stock based upon the fact that it seems to have been taken around the same time as the first photo) Shouldn't this be in the quiz area ;D ;D ;D

Pic 2 will be 1972 mk1 stock. I can't recall if any '67stock has yet been scrapped, but if it has it was only one or two vehicles

Nooooooooo! You can't do that to the 67TS! Or the C and D Stock! But you can do that to the A Stock if you want. (Expects metman/A Stock5000 to shoot me.)

Very sad pictures, but at least the metal is recycled.
That wont happen to the A stock, as the bodies are built from diamond, thus will be impervious to any form of scrapping. Infact, science predicts they will instead become fossilized.

How dare they cut up a 59! At least half a 59DM resides in my garage! I wonder if Booths ever found out they were a few kilograms short in the consist? ;D

Booths actually have a 'viewing' area for enthusiasts I believe - it's signposted! Relatively easy to get to too.

Any pics of 38 or 59ts meeting its demise is painful for me. I remember once seeing IOW standard stock parked at Fratton on its way to being scrapped C1990. I would love to adopt a DM, perhaps there should be such a program... Would be a bit hard shipping it over the Atlantic though...

...Or even where you can buy scrap parts. I've been looking for a TS grab handle for years.

Would be a bit hard shipping it over the Atlantic though... Given the number of Class 66s that have come over the Atlantic, technically it should be fairly trivial to send a tube train the other way. Cost may be a different issue though ;D

It might actually be an 1983 tube stock(from the jubillee line) because it looks like they have single leaf doors IMO

Even harder to sneak it through customs i suspect.
